Barrichello’s first win in five years

It was a brilliant day for Euro GP winner Rubens Barrichello, recording his first win in five years but it was an awful afternoon for his teammate Jenson Button.

Luckily for Button though, Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel blew his second engine of the weekend, which let the Brit off a bit lighter than he might otherwise have been.

So Button remains top of the championship race on 72 points, but thanks to today’s win, Rubens is hard on his heels with 54.

We have feel sorry for Hamilton who lead the way for so long but McLaren threw the race away when they fumbled Lewis Hamilton’s pitstop with a delay bringing out the tyres.

BMW withdraw from F1

BMW have announced at a press conference in Munich early this morning that it will withdraw from formula one at the end of the 2009 season. The decision was made at a board meeting 24 hours earlier.

BMW like so many other teams are after success which has not been the case over the past three years failing to much silverware. Many feel the lack of results has resulted in the BMW team pulling out at the end of the season but I also think money plays a huge part as is not cheap to rum a team in F1

This gets us thinking will this be the same case as Honda who pulled out end of last season but was taken over by Brawn could the minority shareholder and founder Peter Sauber may step in and keep the team in operation.

Audi to launch A1 as Mini Challenger

After months of speculation on release dates and the actual appearance of the car, Audi will now launch its long-awaited Mini challenger in 2010.

The A1 will sit nicely at the bottom of the Audi family tree and become the successor of the discontinued A2.

The A1 will not be a lot smaller than the A3, but it will consistently cheaper with prices ranging between £11,000-20,000.

The engines available for the A1 should be those from the TDI and FSI ranges. I’m sure for the people wanting a top range one they will introduce an S-Line version for the higher end of the price bracket

HONDA CR-Z set for release.

Honda have finally announced plans to begin sales in Japan of the CR-Z hybrid sports car in February 2010 and a Fit hybrid before the end of 2010. By combining these two models with the currently available Insight and Civic Hybrid, Honda will further enhance its lineup of compact hybrid models and help it become one of the ‘greenest’ automakers in the world.

Both cars will be powered by Honda’s Integrated Motor Assist (IMA), also found in the Insight and Civic hybrids. In the case of the Insight, the IMA incorporates a 13hp (10kW) electric motor and a compact Intelligent Power Unit (IPU) – recapturing and storing kinetic energy from vehicle braking and deceleration and supplying additional power for acceleration when needed.

Not much is known about the Fit hybrid but previous reports have suggested that it could cost about ¥1.5 million (approximately $15,800) when it goes on sale late next year.

Jaguar Cars has officially unveiled the all-new XJ at the Saatchi Gallery in Chelsea, London, ending months of speculation about the shape and style of its eagerly awaited new luxury flagship.

The all-new XJ is available to order now, with the first customers due to receive their cars in early 2010. Prices start at £52,500 for the standard wheelbase 3.0-litre V6 diesel luxury.

Firefighters were called after reports that a Lamborghini had burst into flames now I’m sure this was hard for the fire fighters to believe after normally having to be called to put out old fiestas and micra’s burnt out by youths,

But this was not the case when the Lamborghini Gallardo burst into flames in Peterborough.

The 2005 model which burnt out on Friday was worth around £75,000. People close to the scene said that the bright orange car pulled up with smoke billowing from its engine. Two men were seen to jump out of the vehicle.
